By now, we probably all recognize that we live in a disposable society. It’s amazing—and shocking—all the stuff we throw away.
New gadgets, toys, cell phones, computers, etc. hit the market at a breakneck pace, and we just have to get our hands on the latest and greatest. In the process, we toss the old and move on. But when we were kids, it seemed like our parents were real sticklers about taking care of our stuff. You know, “hang up your clothes,” “polish your shoes,” “put away your toys.” If something got lost or ruined by neglect, tough. We had to do without.
